Vintage Diving Photographs: Hard Hat Divers

I'm not sure what's happening in this photo or why it's happening but who cares? It's awesome. 

 As jazzed up as I am lately about diving hard hats I can't help but scour the internet for pictures of the ancestors of all modern commercial divers.  Copper collar and brass hat are loving nicknames for the big, heavy-ass copper dive helmets worn on countless dives from the 1820s all the way till the Navy retired the beloved MKV diving hat in the 1980s.  They are, in short, as cool as it gets and I think on this Friday the 13th I'll post about 13 cool photos from diving's yesteryear.  Enjoy.
